Plastic, for some cause unknown to me, looks plastic. When you're lounging at a pool or sitting out on the back patio, the look and feel of plastic furniture is cold and unfriendly. You know if you see plastic that it was made from a mold, with tiny care taken to ensure top quality craftsmanship, and no concern whatsoever for an artistic touch. The feeling of plastic against flesh is chill and unpleasant, or else blistering and sticky. It could very well serve its purpose, (to be sat upon), but--ick! My friend is moving into an apartment 3 minutes from mine (yay!) & she doesn't have much decorative stuff. I know she really likes a sort of African look, with rattan & earthy tones & a few bright jewel tones to brighten things up.
I bought a table runner for her coffee table made of really dark twigs. a big glass bowl that is about 30cm wide & is kind of blue, green & swirly (its not see through, it could almost look like pottery) & some willow decorative balls to put in the bowl in earthy tones.
I even got it out at home & set it up to check it looked nice. It's not my style (my house is very modern) but does it sound like I'm on the right track & is this a suitable housewarming gift?
